Hey everyone! I’m not entirely sure if this fever dream of a week is the result of Jace fracturing reality or my ongoing battle with whatever horrible illness has decided to make itself at home in my body. Either way, this week’s Midweek Magic is going to be sick as hell.
If you couldn’t already tell, you might not be getting my A-list material this week. Sometimes life is a struggle, and you just have to trudge through it. In this case, that means pounding out an article before passing out again and attempting to hibernate my way through whatever plague I’ve managed to catch. If the jokes are worse than usual, I’m blaming the fever. If they’re better than usual, I’m taking full credit.
Oh yeah, Midweek Magic! Why did I say it’s going to be sick? Well, besides the obvious excuse to make terrible illness-related puns, it’s because we’re getting the Brawl Builder Challenge, which is always a good time.
The premise is simple: build a Brawl deck using a commander from the current set, Reality Fracture. That’s it! You’ve got a fresh batch of legendary creatures and planeswalkers to build around, and now you get to see what kind of nonsense you can cook up with them.
Let’s see what we’ve got before my immune system decides I’ve had enough fun for one day.
Event Details
Choose one of ourย Reality Fracture commanders and build a 100-card Brawl deck using any cards inย MTG Arenaย (excluding those on theย Brawl banned list)!
Find out more details about this and upcoming Midweek Magic events HERE.
Duration: October 13th, 2026 @ 2:00 PM PST to October 15th, 2026 @ 2:00 PM PST
Format: Brawl Builder Challenge
Entry Fee: Free
Ends After: You can play as much as you like for the duration of the event.
This one’s for those of you who don’t really want to be playing a format like Brawl and just want to grab your Midweek Magic prizes and get out of there as quickly as possible.
While Samut isn’t anywhere near as busted as getting to run Ragavan as your commander, she does synergize nicely with the tried-and-true strategy of turning all your dudes sideways as quickly as possible. Who needs complicated strategies and fancy synergies when you can just smash face?
Beyond that, burn away to your heart’s content. Your opponent can’t execute their elaborate game plan if they’re already dead. Sometimes the best strategy really is the simplest one.
I couldn’t very well write an entire article about commanders from Jace’s set without letting the man himself take the wheel, could I?
You’re going to spend the majority of the game playing at instant speed, making sure your opponent never gets too comfortable with the idea of actually resolving their spells. Why play Magic on your own turn when you can spend your opponent’s turn making their life miserable instead?
I’ll save the jokes about being a terrible person for a similar deck further down the list, but I’m sure you get the gist. If your idea of a good time involves passing the turn with all your mana open and a suspicious grin on your face, this one’s for you.
This one falls firmly into the category of having some fun while still being perfectly capable of getting the job done.
Your inner Timmy will love slamming massive green monsters onto the battlefield well ahead of curve. Meanwhile, your inner Spike will be laughing maniacally when you realize that some Brawl decks simply aren’t equipped to deal with your parade of oversized monstrosities.
Sometimes you don’t need some elaborate combo or a five-step game plan. Sometimes you just need to play a creature so ridiculously large that your opponent has to stop and reconsider their life choices.
Plus, there are a bunch of dinosaurs. Honestly, I probably should have led with that.
This one’s for those of you who don’t just want to win, but want to make sure your opponent has an absolutely miserable time along the way. Which should be pretty self-explanatory from the pile of free and one-mana counterspells we’re packing.
The game plan is simple: your opponent doesn’t get to play Magic, while you get to sit back and feel smug about all the fun they’re not having. Eventually, you’ll close things out with some of your flashy flyers. (Yes, I see what I did there, and I might even be slightly ashamed of myself.)
Is it fun? For you, absolutely. For your opponent? Well, that’s really not your problem, is it?
Here’s your usual option for those of you who would rather not sacrifice a small mountain of wildcards just to collect a couple of Midweek Magic prizes.
While Rescue Girl does have some nice synergy with picking up a Hare Apparent to produce even more rabbits (because apparently the one thing rabbits needed help with was multiplying), I’d recommend running Liliana the Faultless instead if you already own her or don’t mind spending the wildcard.
At just one mana, Liliana slides into the curve so much more smoothly, letting you get straight to the important business of flooding the board with an unreasonable number of adorable little murder machines.
Thanks for reading! I’ll be back next weekend with another Limited Weekend Update and next week with your regularly scheduled Midweek Magic nonsense. Hopefully, by then, I’ll have defeated whatever plague has decided to make my life miserable and can return to my usual questionable attempts at humor.
Until then, stay classy, people! And if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some serious hibernating to get back to.
