Hey everyone! Halloween happens to fall in the middle of the week this year so that means it is time to get spooky. Midweek Magic is offering up a treat (or possibly a trick depending on your skill level during the open packs phase) with Phantom Mixed-Up Innistrad Sealed.
You’re probably asking yourself what that actually entails, but luckily, I’m here to let you know. It contains three Innistrad: Double Feature packs with four Shadows Ove Innistrad Remastered packs. Not really as mixed up as they made it out to be, but more similar to the old block sealed events.
I’ll be giving you some tips and tricks on navigating this haunted event right after this handy dandy event info.

In most mixed-up events, you tend to value synergy a lot less than raw power. That is not necessarily the case here because it is only two sets (well two sets of two combined sets, but you get what I mean) which have similar themes.
That said, it will still be pretty difficult to pull off the “Oops all spells” deck that was so popular in Shadows Over Innistrad Remastered. That also means Dafore is going to have trouble jamming his little buddy Festival Crasher. Not getting a full theme deck is just an expected part of playing sealed though.
Graveyards tended to matter in both of these sets with Delirium and Flashback running around.
Blood tokens were one of my favorite limited mechanics of all time because they provide so many decision points while mitigating screw and flood. They are even better when they can be used to do something such as getting Delirium at instant speed, but the real trick is using them as a madness outlet. Why would you value a blood token at half a card when it draws you a full one with a bonus.
In most sealed formats, counter spells tend to overperform. This is a reminder that Flip the Switch is a much better card than it appears on the surface. Four mana is too much to wait to play a spell around it and the zombie tokens matter more than most people think.
In case you haven’t played much limited with these sets, Thraben Inspector, Organ Hoarder, and Diregraf Horde are premium commons that might not look like it to the average player.
On that note, Morbid Opportunist is a mythic uncommon that might not be slap you in the face obvious.
Wrap Up
Thanks for reading! I’ll be back next week to talk about MWM featuring Duskmourn: House of Horror Bot Draft. Until then, stay classy people!
