Top Mythic Standard and Historic Decks – June 2020 Season – Week 2

iko-88-extinction-event

It’s been several days since the Standard and Historic bans have taken place on MTG Arena, and we’ve tried our best to keep you up to date on the new metagame as it evolves. Last weekend, we saw Temur Reclamation take down both of the Red Bull Untapped Online Qualifiers, having the biggest share of the field as well as the best win rates. Standard has effectively gone back to where it was pre-Ikoria, with the new best deck exploiting one of the best card that remain – Wilderness Reclamation. Check out the results and decklists below if you’ve missed it:

This weekend, we have the first two Player’s Tour Online tournaments happening as we speak and the metagame data from the first event has just been released. As a high level competitive event with 195 players participating, this will set the tone of the format going forward. We will have the full breakdown and decklists for you soon, but here are the top five archetypes:

Archetype#%
Temur Reclamation7940.50%
Jund Sacrifice3015.40%

Before this, Jeskai Lukka took up 37.5% of the metagame at the Red Bull Untapped tournament that saw the ban of Fires of Invention and Agent of Treachery that was central to the deck archetype. Going back further, we saw other extremes when Bant Golos featuring Field of the Dead or Food decks featuring Oko, Thief of Crowns dominated the metagame in a similar fashion, that also ended up with both of those cards being banned.

As for Historic, the emergency suspension of Winota was sudden but not surprising, but the MTG Arena ladder environment is still diverse enough. We can narrow the best decks down to the same old Nexus, Field and Gruul Aggro, but other decks like Rakdos Sacrifice and Esper Control are also making their rounds and has the tools to fight toe to toe amongst the top decks. We’ll definitely have access to better data once the pros start brewing decks for the Mythic Invitational in August!

With the release of Core Set 2021 less than two weeks away, will the new cards be enough to break the current metagame? Is the data problematic enough to warrant more bans, or will we ride it out until rotation happens? Only time will tell – but in the meantime, check out the freshest decklists that we’ve collected for you below that the players are using to reach the heights of the MTG Arena ladder!
