With the World Championship XXVII now behind us, the competitive Standard format presses on as players learn from the results and strive to win against the established meta. This weekend, the Red Bull Untapped tournament series returned with a Europe-based Standard tournament with over 1200 players. The competition took place over two days and sported a prize pool of over $20,000 USD. For more information about the Red Bull Untapped series, see the official event information page.
In this article, we’re going to examine the meta, decklists, and final results from the Red Bull Untapped International Stop I. In addition to the usual Top 8, we’ve also decided to feature a few of the more off-meta decks that managed to perform well in the field for those who may be getting sick of the usual archetypes. Let’s get into it!

Without a doubt, there’s also a range of other decks showing up and sometimes posting good results, but these core archetypes have been consistently performing. For more detailed information on the wider Standard meta, be sure to check out our weekly Standard Metagame Analysis.

Izzet Dragons made up the majority of the field, but it was aggro decks that made up most of the Top 8. Mono Green Stompy decks continue to perform extremely well, especially against the Epiphany decks – green decks typically win the matchup 60% of the time or better.
Other than Mono Green and the single Izzet Dragons deck that finished in second, there were also a couple of Temur Aggro and a Mono White Aggro list (piloted by MTG Hall-of-Famer Frank Karsten) that managed to get into the Top 8 thanks to their fairly good matchups against the field. We saw Jean-Emmanuel Depraz make an impressive run into the finals at the World Championship with Temur, and the deck continues to prove that it’s a real contender in the meta.

Off-Meta Standout Decks
With the format increasingly breaking into the same archetypes, we wanted to put a spotlight on some of the players who decided to play something a bit different and try to crack open the meta. With that being said, here are a few of the interesting decks from the Red Bull Untapped tournament that stood out from the crowd:
