Hey everyone! This week weโll be hitting one of my favorite recurring Midweek Magic formats. Every set we get the opportunity to play with only the cards from the latest set. This time it is Edge of Eternities Constructed.
You might be wondering why I love this type of format so much. A big reason is the nostalgia of the old block constructed tournaments and packing the car full for road trips to PTQs. Standard was so ubiquitous at the time and they were always an enjoyable departure from the that. The meta was always evolving and every tournament you would run into at least one bonkers rogue deck that would send you back to the brew lab..
The other reason I love these events on Arena is that, at least for the last few, they have secretly been All Access. They never list that it is, but they stopped requiring you to actually own the cards to play them. I will give WotC their props for making a great decision that was very beneficial to the average player. It will still tell you that you donโt own the cards after you import it, but you can select the deck under the event. Of course, now that I have that in my article, they will clearly take it away this time. (This also means that I don’t have to build a budget option)
Alright, youโre done reading my drivel and want me to get to the decksโฆ.fine, I guessโฆ

Format: Edge of Etrnities Constructed

Ends After: You can play as much as you like for the duration of the event.
They call it Red Deck Wins for a reason and it certainly isn’t because it likes to durdle around.
Some people just want to watch the world burn. Either that or they want to get through the event as fast as possible. This ones for either of you guys. Youโll either catch them stumbling or quickly know that youโre not coming back from the current position so you can move to the next one.
Another classic approach for an unsolved format because there isn’t time for decks to get tuned to perfection. You can run them over with a bunch of cheap critters while they are still figuring out what they can pull off.
Do you like casting multiple spells in one turn? Me too. In this deck you can get some cool bonuses from it especially from Cosmogrand Zenith.
The biggest problem is that the mana is pretty bad in this format if youโre not in one of the colors that is lucky enough to get a shockland. Unfortunately this one is going to lose some games to its own mana base.
On the bright side, Gruul actually has a solid mana base between the shocklands and all the lander tokens. On the down side, this is kind of a janky with the chance to blow up to do a few crazy things. Sometimes you need to have a bit of fun.
Creature decks are almost always the most popular option in Midweek Magic for many of the reasons I talked about earlier in the article. Having a bunch of board wipes is a great way to combat that strategy. Plus, you can get some free scoops from frustrated opponents.
